Finzean House, Finzean, Aberdeenshire - Mr & Mrs D Farquharson
The original part of Finzean House dates from 1683 and the house was extensively altered by the famous landscape painter Joseph Farquharson in the late 19th century. The building suffered a catastrophic fire in 1950’s and was never properly rebuilt as a result having lost a considerable section including the library and ballroom. When our client returned to take over the management of the estate it was decided to restore the house to its Edwardian elegance and consequently the south façade was completely rebuilt to its original design and a new Ballroom was added with considerable design input from Carpenter, Oak and Woodland. In addition the building had lost its sense of arrival as there was no proper front door and so a proper entrance courtyard was created.
