New Appointments

Michael Rasmussen Associates have just secured an appointment from The Robert Gordon University of Aberdeen to design a landmark building on the South bank of the River Dee for the RGU Rowing Club.

Making the announcement Michael Rasmussen said, “We are absolutely delighted to have been invited by the University to work with them in designing a new state-of-the-art Rowing Club.  As a former oarsman myself I hold the sport close to my heart and we will be pulling out the stops to provide an economic but stunning building for our clients.  This is a most important and prominent site on the River Dee adjacent to our former award winning building for the Aberdeen Boat Club completed some 25 years ago so we will be looking to come up with an innovative, eye catching solution that will be an asset to the river bank townscape.”

Conceptual design will start before Christmas 2006. We will be discussing the brief and budget with the client over and then brain storming a concept within the practice following site analysis.  Our approach will be to visualise the solution using traditional perspectives along with computerised walk through modelling.  Also appointed as part of the design team are McCue & Porter, Quantity Surveyors and Ramsay & Chalmers, Civil Engineers, both of Aberdeen.  We expect to report to the University with a model in the New Year
