The Old Free Kirk, Aboyne, Aberdeenshire - Aboyne Steeple Repair and Maintenance Trust
Following the schism of the 1860’s Aboyne developed two churches and the Free Kirk lasted until 1947 when the two congregations were amalgamated at St Machar’s.  The building then lay empty for many years and was acquired by the local Masonic Lodge.  In order to provide the lodge with income and to provide much needed hall space the building was cut in half horizontally with a lodge moving into the roof space which was extensively restored to its original 19th century condition along with all the stained glass and the ground floor was converted to a Public Hall.  In addition extensive sand stone dressings were replaced with the project substantially funded by a Lottery Capital.
