Why Use an Architect
We spend all of our working and leisure time in buildings – so why do we spend so little time choosing an Architect? When you have the chance to commission a new building you have a duty of care to select the very best Designer. At Michael Rasmussen Associates Architects we have the skills you need. Our PhilosophyMichael Rasmussen Associates Architects forte is the design of unique buildings. We aim to add value to a clients’ portfolio by applying innovative thinking. Our focus is the blending of traditional aesthetics with modern features. We only specify sustainable materials & ECO friendly technology to create designs which are as individual as our clients. To us every project is a “one off” influenced only by the site, the environment, regional characteristics and most importantly the personality of our clients. From these foundations, the “art” of architecture evolves. Our design skills are our core strength and we have a reputation for creativity and an ability to produce an architectural solution that exactly matches our client’s brief and budget. At MRA we believe in team work – this means building relations with our clients and working collaboratively with engineers, surveyors, contractors and other professionals. In a recent survey of our former clients MRA were described as:
Michael Rasmussen founded the Practice in 1992 after a very successful 15 year career in corporate, commercial and public practice, “I felt that my career was drifting. I was loosing contact with my clients and the `art` of design. So I started my own Practice in order to get back to basics and to be `hands on`. To me quality of design is everything. I was one of the last intake of students to train under the Bauerhaus school of art and design at the Duncan and Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee qualifying with distinction in Architecture in 1977. I have a staff of five & I believe that small is beautiful”. MRA have a friendly studio atmosphere in the office – “there is always coffee, music and attention to detail.” Michael Rasmussen holds membership of the Incorporation of Architects Scotland and the Royal Institute of British Architects and is a former member of the Association of Project Managers

Although we are committed to CAD the Drawing Board plays a vital role in our design philosophy. “Nothing can replace the magic of sketching at a drawing board with pencil and paper. There is something spiritual about gazing at a clean sheet of paper as you gather your thoughts immediately before you start to draw that no computer can come close to replicating”. |
